Frequently Asked Questions
Do I qualify for affordable housing?
How much rent will I pay?
Rent varies at each apartment community, but all of our communities are affordable. If you are applying for a Section 8-assisted apartment, your rent will be 30 percent of your adjusted annual income. Various deductions could apply. Many of our communities offer apartments that are not restricted by income. Please contact the apartment community you are interested in to find out about availability. We maintain waiting lists at all of our communities.
How can I apply for an apartment?
Please visit Rental Homes to find an apartment. There are three options for submitting your application:
Click "Download Application" on any of the apartment communities. Print, complete, and mail the application to the property address listed or drop it off at the apartment's office.
Pick up an application for the apartment you're interested in to complete and return.
Call the property you are interested in to set up an appointment to visit the property or to drop off an application.
What is the difference between section 8 and affordable housing?
Section 8 housing provides rental assistance. This means that the rent is subsidized and the amount of rent you pay is based on your monthly income, minus certain deductions. Affordable housing offers different income-qualifying levels. Rent at these communities varies depending upon the income level target for each apartment and provides affordability to a wide range of residents. Market rate apartments are offered at most of our affordable housing communities. This means that no income restrictions apply to these apartments.
Do you accept Housing Choice Vouchers?
Yes. We give waiting list preference to families with Housing Choice Vouchers and families that have applied and are waiting to receive a voucher. Information about Housing Choice Vouchers is available in our communities.
What are the eligibility requirements?
We have tenant selection criteria for all our communities. You can read the complete resident selection criteria in the application package on each community's page. Income qualifications will vary depending on the type of apartment that interests you.
Will my name be placed on a waiting list?
To obtain housing in our communities, you must request that your name be placed on the waiting list. This is accomplished by completing an application. We encourage you to make an appointment with the resident manager to discuss any questions you have about the application process. We offer waiting list preferences, which establish the rank of individuals on the list. These preferences are detailed in the resident selection policy and the resident manager will help you determine if you qualify for a preference.
How long will it take to be approved for an apartment?
The time from application to approval varies. We process credit and criminal reports and check past rental history and professional references. Generally, we process an application for an income-restricted apartment in 10-14 days. For a market rent apartment, the timeframe is generally within 3-10 days.
Can you send me an application?
Yes. You can contact us at
Will a housing choice voucher be accepted?
Yes! We give waiting list preference to families with housing choice vouchers, or families who have applied and are waiting to receive a voucher. Information about housing choice vouchers is available at our affordable housing communities.
